What inspired Noelle Riehl to become a healthcare provider?

Noelle’s passion for healthcare began long before she ever became a nurse. She grew up with a sister who has disabilities and requires 24-hour care. From an early age, healthcare wasn’t something Noelle only saw during an occasional doctor’s appointment—it was part of her family’s everyday life. Through her sister, Noelle saw healthcare from the perspective of both the patient and the family. She learned how much trust families place in the people caring for someone they love, and she saw firsthand the difference that compassionate, dependable healthcare professionals can make. Noelle also came to understand how challenging it can be for families to navigate healthcare systems, coordinate care, advocate for their loved ones, and simply find providers who will take the time to listen and understand the whole person.

Those experiences shaped Noelle’s decision to pursue nursing and, eventually, to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. They also continue to influence the kind of provider and healthcare leader she strives to be today.

What motivates Noelle now is much bigger than treating an illness or completing a patient visit. She wants people to have access to healthcare that feels personal, compassionate, approachable, and affordable. She wants patients and families to feel heard and know that someone is advocating for them. That same philosophy has influenced how Noelle has grown Medallus Medical—looking for ways to remove barriers, expand access, bring services directly into our communities, and care for people through many different stages of their lives.

Noelle’s sister was one of her earliest teachers in healthcare, long before she had a degree or credentials behind her name. Her sister helped teach her that caring for someone means seeing the person first, not simply their diagnosis or limitations. That lesson continues to guide the way Noelle care for patients, leads her teams, and makes decisions about the future of Medallus Medical.

Her commitment to service extends well beyond her professional role. Noelle has volunteered with Special Olympics North Dakota as a coach in soccer, volleyball, and track, served with Team Rubicon, participated in numerous local community initiatives, and participated in a youth mission to Juárez, Mexico, where the group helped build nine homes for families experiencing housing insecurity.

She has also served as a board member of the Circle Cross Riding Club. For Noelle, leadership in healthcare and service to the community are closely connected. Her career has been shaped by the belief that meaningful change does not always have to begin with something large—even one act of kindness, improved access to care, or positive change in someone’s life can have a lasting impact.
